It was discovered in 90´s within Jimenez-2 variety, as Hass mutations, by the Engineer Prisciliano Jimenez in the region of Tacámbaro (Michoacan, Mexico) and later patented. They were selected due to their differences with Hass, regarding to size and morphological qualities of fruits.

JIMENEZ1

  • Race: Guatemalan.
  • Tree: it is pyramidal shaped, slightly more vigorous than Jimenez-2, With narrow leaves of a deep green color. It starts producing at three years.
  • Flowering: it belongs to group A. It blooms earlier than Hass (from the end of February to early April).
  • Planting Layout: 5 x 5 m. interim to stay for 15/17 years and definitely 7 x 7 m.
  • Fruit: it is pear-shaped more large and narrowed neck than Jimenez-2. With wrinkled green skin. It turns purple when it ripens.
  • Flesh: with excellent flavour, green colour turning yellow at the end of ripening. It is creamy and rich in fatty matter
  • Seed size: it is medium, with a pulp/seed percentage quite similar than Hass.
  • Fruit weight: from 250 to 380 gr.
  • Size of the fruit: the 70% is from 12 to 14 and 16 and the 20% is 18.
  • Fruit ripening: it is from 10th December to mid-June.
